The Ilorin Zonal Office of EFCC has secured the conviction of Ogundele Adeseye, 24, who was re-arraigned on a one-count amended charge bordering on internet fraud.

He was convicted by Justice Babangana Ashigar of a Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, on April 10, 2019 after he pleaded “guilty” to the charge, following a plea bargain agreement.

He was previously arraigned on a five-count charge, which was later amended to one count after plea bargain agreement was reached.

In his plea, Ogundele said: “My lord, I have learnt my lessons, I have realized that crime and criminality is not good, I am pleading with your lordship to temper justice with mercy.”

In sentencing him, the trial judge held there was a need to enforce judgement that will serve as a deterrent to would-be internet fraudsters.
